Monarch Mountain will extend its season by two weeks because of snowfall, the ski area announced Sunday. Monarch will now be open until April 21, opposed to April 7 as originally planned.
“This season has already proven to be quite an exceptional one,” general manager/chief operating officer Randy Stroud said. “After a few seasons of below average snowfall it is extremely rewarding to be able to share our love for the mountain with our guests.
Monarch currently has a 100-inch base after receiving 240 inches of snow this winter, and its forecast for more winter storms is favorable for the rest of March and April.
Monarch will run four lifts for the extra two weeks, including Caterpillar, Garfield, Breezeway and Panorama. It will operate from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday on April 12-14 and April 19-21.
